Why I’m in a Technology Elective Course NikolePino Period 6.
The Move • I began my freshman year of high school at a performing arts school in Manhattan and had to leave due to my parents separation and our move to New Jersey.
I moved back to New York from Jersey about two weeks before the end of the marking period and had all of my credits go from 26.6 to 9 at the end of my sophomore year. • The New York Board of Ed. told me I was too far behind and had to be a Freshman instead of a Junior. • I was unable to get back into my first High School because they also said I was too far behind due to my credits being taken away. Whomp. This is where it gets funny
Stevenson • I ended up being enrolled into Stevenson Campus and went to Millennium, an art school on the first floor. • My guidance counselor there tried to help me get my credits back however she could only get half of each class I passed. • Although that somewhat helped me I only had about 12 or 13 after. • This year I asked my deans and Guidance counselors to give me anything possible to help me graduate on time (June/August 2012) however 4 credit recovery packets, not failing any classes at all, after school, and automatic summer school began to overwhelm me.
Now I’m Here • A transfer school around the hall from my previous school informed me of Arena during my accidental interview with the school after I took a placement test and was informed I was not absent enough last year to attend. • I was accepted to Arena and told everything I need to do to accumulate enough credits to graduate. • Due to my move all of my elective credits just so happened to be removed as well, therefore I am now here, taking Connected Foundations to make up for them.
