REVISION - What is Health ? • Health is dynamic, which means it changes all the time and is influenced by the way people behave & the choices they make. • Health is also influenced by many environments.
REVISION - What is Health ? • Health has many dimensions (multidimensional): • Physical • Social • Mental • Emotional • Cognitive • Spiritual • This means there are many things that make up or contribute to “good” & “bad” health. • These dimensions are dynamic, interrelated and interdependent.
Case Study Wade and his family moved to the UAE a few weeks ago. Since moving, Wade has felt sad. He keeps asking why he had to move and he feels worthless and lacks self confidence in his new environment. Wade is having difficulty developing new relationships at school. Concerned about his sadness, Wade’s family encourage him to play a team sport. Wade develops new friendships and begins to feel better about himself. His fitness level also improves. Wade feels excited about his new friends and is keen to go to Dubai Mall with them on the weekend. • Discuss Wade’s health, focusing on the changes to each of his health dimensions (physical, social, mental, emotional, cognitive, spiritual).
