Seniors in contract PE will need to report to the gym for CPR training at 8:00AM both days.
Why do we take the Iowa Assessment? What do the results prove?
The Iowa Assessment is a chance to prove what you have learned and what you know. • It is also a chance to see how you compare to other students in the state, and in the nation. • Predictor for the ACT • Help with placement of classes • Iowa Assessment scores are on student transcripts Iowa Assessment for Students
Demonstrates the schools adequate yearly progress (AYP) for UCSD, and the school’s annual improvement goals status • Plan curriculum and remediation based on scores • Special programs/classes for those shown to need it Iowa Assessment for UHS
Scores offer proof of adequate yearly progress or lack there of • Proof of what was taught at a school • Evidence of what students learn at a school • Indicator for No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Iowa Assessment for Iowa/Nation
1st year- Identified as being on the “Watch List” • 2nd year- Identified as “A school in need of assistance” • School must write a 2-year plan for improvement • 3rd year- Offering free tutoring and related services to students in needed area • 4th year- “Corrective Action” is needed • Potentially replace staff • Increase the time students spend in class, especially in reading and math • 5th year- Restructure the school • 6th year- School is up for closing What if a school does not show positive progress?

ITEDS/Iowa Assessment is intended as proof of what students learned, and how well the school has taught. Do your best so your scores are a true picture of what you have learned.
ITED Tips • Follow directions carefully • Check your answers • Read questions before you read the passage • Answer the easier questions first (all of the ones you know for sure) • Be present every day for the ITEDS • Answer ALL OF THE QUESTIONS • Make an educated guess when you don’t know an answer
Attendance • The federal government requires that we test at least 95% of our student body. • If you are absent you will be pulled from class to take the test and will make-up class work on your own time.
