  4. What happened? Millions of people found out about the finding of gold and all rushed to California to claim the best land for themselves.

  5. The overland route Very exhausting and dangerous lots of settlers took this trail Many died and were always plagued by cholera Many settlers passed by amazing places in the USA so it was a nice way to travel too.

  6. The panama shortcut The shortcut was dangerous and many people feared the boat ride there

  7. Children of the gold rush These are some children in gold rush times

  8. Who got rich? Store owners got the richest because they sold the supplies that the miners needed

  9. Boomtowns boomtowns were very fast occurring towns that popped up a lot in old California
