Strategies to Meet Class Size • Phase I- • Secondary School Strategies • Increase Number of Teachers Teaching Extra Periods • Reduce Double Block Scheduling • Utilize Virtual Education • Elementary School Strategies • Refine TERMS Elementary Schedule to meet class size requirement
Strategies to Meet Class Size • Core classes scheduled at the maximum load • K-3 (18), 4-8 (22), and 9-12 (25) • Offer Reading Class for remediation only • Cut CRT Positions • Athletic Directors teach 2 classes • May need to add teacher positions in the Fall, 2010 from General Fund Reserve *added 07/26/10 • Possible combined grade-level scenarios *added 07/26/10
Possible Additional Funding • .25 Super Majority Vote to Raise Millage • RttT- Grant • Teacher Incentive Fund Grant
CSR Penalty • What happens, if we do not meet CSR? • Maximums: • Grades PK-3: 18 Students • Grades 4-8: 22 Students • Grades 9-12: 25 Students • Monroe’s estimated class size penalty using 2009-2010 Data is 1,063,589 • 25% of total to be Reallocated= $265,897 • 75% of Total to be Reallocated= $797,692
