Solving the problem • Pharmacologicalsolutions? • Onlyonetherapyapprovedsince 1996: thrombolysis • Manyclinical trials with new compounds but no relevant improvement 3 decades • Redesigning the process • “Code Stroke” : in-hospitalprioritisation & organisation • Prehospital TeleStrokeStudy at the Universitair ziekenhuis Brussel (PreSSUB)
PreSSUB’s Aim Improve outcome for stroke patients by redesigning acute stroke care Time = Brain 3G / 4G Competence = Brain
PreSSUB’s Solution Implementation of a redisigned stroke process Routine clinical practice Departure ambulance 28’ Patient Registration + triage nursing procedures + blood results + final diagnosis nursing procedures + blood sampling + NIHSS CT Basic Nursing Procedures Time gain Arrival hospital 43’ Start Thrombolysis 102’ 74’ 84’ 45’ PreSSUB • Life Transmission of: • Vital parameters • PoC Blood Analysis Arrival hospital 43’ Start Thrombolysis 72’ Departure ambulance 28’ CT + nursingprocedures + analyse blood results + final diagnosis UTSS through bidirectional Audio-video connection 46’ Immediate transport to CT Patient registration Triage Basic Nursing Procedures
