Room 307 Newsletter Mrs. Etrheim, March 10th – 14th • This coming week is all about the Terra Nova! Terra Nova testing will begin Monday morning (3/10). Testing is from 8:10-10:30 each day, and students in grades 3-6 will take a different section of the test each morning. A few reminders to make next week as stress-free as possible: • It is extremely important that all students arrive at school on time every day this coming week. Students who arrive after testing begins, even a few minutes late, will NOT be admitted to the classroom; rather, they will spend the morning in the library until we are finished testing, and then will have to make up the test section they missed the following week. • Please make sure that any appointments students have next week are scheduled in the afternoon. • Students should go to bed early each night and eat a good breakfast each morning so that they are rested and reenergized, ready to give their best on each day’s test. • Finally, encourage a positive attitude toward the test: students need to feel calm and confident in order to do their best! • There will be no spelling or vocabulary words this week, nor will the students have homework. All of their mental energy will be devoted to showing what they know on the Terra Nova. The students have worked hard all year (and in years past, as well) so they have a lot of knowledge to show off! • This newsletter is available on our Weebly, http://etrheim.smith.kdso.eportalnow.net. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at alissa.etrheim@eu.dodea.edu. Thanks! • Test-Taking Tips(from Smith’s Parent Newsletter, 5 March 2014) • Don’t spend too much time on one question. • Leave no questions unanswered. If you absolutely don’t know, just choose the one that you think is the best answer. • Read all directions very carefully. Sometimes the directions need re-reading so that you fully understand what is being asked of you. • Don’t get distracted by other who finish early. A test is not a race. • If you finish early, go back and check your answers. Do not distract others who are still working. @ Rachel Thorp 2013
