VBMP Program 2013-2016 • Commonwealth contracted with the Sanborn Map Company to provide full color, leaf-off, digital orthophotography for the entire land base of Virginia. • Eastern portion of the State was acquired in Spring 2013. • Western portion of the State will again be acquired in Spring 2015.

  5. “Off-Year” Flights • Orthoimagery/upgrades outside of the base program years (2013 for eastern half, 2015 for western half) can be acquired • Minimum area/order size must be greater than $25K in value • 1ft ortho price = $20.59 per 1’ tile in off-year.

Acquisition • Flights began on 2/21. • Final flight was performed 4/14. • In between, weather and flying conditions were as bad as we’ve seen • Multiple snow events, last one in April • Very few clear days – multiple re-flights needed for clouds/shadows • All 6-in and 3-in blocks were completed. • 98% of the 1-ft blocks were acquired • Portions of Fredericksburg, Fauquier, Prince William, and Stafford were not able to be acquired before the leaf-on conditions stopped flights • Sanborn and VGIN will be coordinating to re-fly these areas in spring 2014.

  11. Status Summary Statistics • 23,164 of 32,354 tiles have been delivered from Sanborn to Dewberry (72% of total program) • 12,556 of 32,354 tiles have completed QC (39% of total) • 8,731 of 32,354 tile are fully accepted (27% of total)

  12. Milestone Update

  13. Locality Deliveries • The first deliveries – Farmville, Hopewell and the Eastern Shore (Accomack and Northampton) have been delivered to the locality. • The upgrade area of The City of Richmond and several additional non-upgrade localities are also currently in the process of packaging for delivery to the locality.

  14. Oct/Nov Expectations • Deliverables to the locality include Geotiffs, MrSids, and DTM • Additionally, VGIN will create a MrSid locality mosaic upon request. • The VBMP is on track for all imagery to be delivered to localities by the end of the year
