Middle leaders web site and the Ed Leadership website. • Goal setting for next cluster (Goal and base line data/Action/Result and data/ review and next steps) Today’s Agenda:

  3. Complete expectations sheet Discuss with another person Highlight common threads on your sheet. Refer to the HOD responsibilities sheet – gap analysis by highlighter. What is missing from your summary?What could we add, and where?How could we turn Management tasks into Leadership activities? So what is the main focus of the HOD role? Expectations exercise

  4. Using you current JD cross reference with HOD responsibilities sheet, expectations sheets and NAGs. Are there any gaps How would you go about addressing any gaps? Discuss this as a group or with another person.  Does my job description meet my expectations?

  6. What are the RTC? Discuss (remember ALL re-registering staff and PRT1s will be registering against them this year) Self reflect, using supplied sheet, against the RTC to find strengths and development opportunities for you personally Now look at RTC with HOD/TIC hat on and rate you department as a whole. How does this fit with your Dept goals and the schools strategic plan and annual goals? Discuss, in non school pairs or as a group, how you might use the RTC as a leadership tool. Choose the SAT that relates most to the area of focus identified in your department rating against the RTC Read it and discuss with another person or as a group how this tool might be useful to you as a middle leader and to the members of your department . Using the sheet provided, create your leadership plan (facilitator will record for next cluster) Using the SATs

  8. Pair-share : How does the appraisal system at your school support your role as professional leader (i.e. building relationships and professional capability)? Adviser to record ideas on board and link withprofessional leadership v sound management. Questions as a full group: Does this reflect the system in your school? What has been achieved so far in this cycle? Any help required? What kind of data is useful to collect? What might feedback look like? How could you incorporate the RTC and SAT? Appraisal and the leadership role

  9. Homework Goals for use of the RTC and SAT as a Middle leader (be ready to report back at next cluster) Plans for appraisal and use of the RTC and SAT Go through the 2 leadership sites and be aware of what is offered. Bring something of interest to you to next cluster meeting. Join up to BHOD wiki and have a look through.
