  3. Aristotles • The story goes that he was by a tree whose leaves were blown by the wind. Occasionally he saw faint images of a leaf or branch projected

  4. Roger Bacon • It is said that Roger Bacon invented the camera obscura just before the year 1300, but this has never been accepted by scholars; more plausible is the claim that he used one to observe solar eclipses. In fact, the Arabian scholar Hassan ibn Hassan (also known as Ibn al Haitam), in the 10th century, described what can be called a camera obscura in his writings; manuscripts of his observations are to be found in the India Office Library in London.

  5. ReinerusGemma-Frisius • Frisius was one of the first operation of such cameras has put on paper

  6. Giovanni Battista Della Porta • The Italian scientist and writer Giambattista Della Porta, late in the 16th century, demonstrated and described in detail the use of a camera obscura with a lens. By the 18th century artists commonly used various types of Camera Obscura to trace accurate images from nature. These devices still depended on the artist's drawing skills, however, and the search for a method to reproduce images completely mechanically continued.

  7. Johannes Keppler • Notes that silver nitrate powder sun turns black.Furthermore, he was aware that it would be blackened powder perishable.

  8. Joseph NicephoreNiepce • The camera was invented by Joseph NicephoreNiepce, a retired French army officer, who made the world’s first true photograph of a scene. The camera was invented in 1826 in St-Loup-de-Varennes, France.

  9. Johannes zahn • The first camera that was small and portable enough to be practical for photography (that is, actually capturing the image on some sort of medium) was created by Zahn in 1685, though it would be almost 150 years before technology caught up to the point where this was possible to actually build.

  10. Modern photography • Color photography was explored beginning in the mid 1800s. Early experiments in color could not fix the photograph and prevent the color from fading. The first permanent color photo was taken in 1861 by the physicist James Clerk Maxwell.

  11. Digital camera • In 1990, Kodak unveiled the DCS 100, the first commercially available digital camera. Although its high cost precluded uses other than photojournalism and professional photography, commercial digital photography was born.
