  1. Assignment Model • Reread the 3rd paragraph on page 1. • I had to read this over a few times to fully understand it. It was a “Cause for Pause” moment in my reading – I couldn’t just keep going. • I “updated” it as follows: • Did Scrooge know he was dead? Absolutely. Scrooge and Marley were business partners for a long time. Scrooge was his only business partner, the person he left everything to, the person who had to figure out the will, his only friend, and the only person who was at Marley’s funeral. Even Scrooge wasn’t very sad though. He went to work the afternoon of the funeral and made a great business deal.

  2. Small Group • Read the first COMPLETE paragraph on page 3 (“The door of Scrooge’s . ..”). • Open your Caroldaily file and write the date in the margin. • Rewrite the paragraph in modern language. Remember, you must stay true to the story. Tell the story in a way that would make more sense in 2013.

  3. Assignment #1 • Read through the end of Stave #1. • Find the assigned paragraph below • Re-write it as would be appropriate for a 2013 audience. • Jan – Feb: last paragraph page 8 (“Now, it is a fact,”). • March-April: 6th paragraph page 9 (“You may talk”). • May –June: 5th paragraph page 10 (“After several”). • July-Aug: 6th paragraph page 11 (“The same face”). • Sept.- Oct: 9th paragraph page 14 (“Oh, captive, bound”). • Nov-Dec: 2nd paragraph page 16 (“The air was filled”).
