Decline in Turnout for Federal Elections • More mobile population – people are moving more frequently. • De-alignment – less party identification – more independents – people not as loyal to their party as they once were. • Cynicism – little difference between the candidates. • Apathy. • Loss of efficacy – vote doesn’t matter.
