  1. What every principal should know about… Computer Aided Instruction Abby Mourning EDAD 689

  2. What is computer aided instruction? Combining software and a computer to deliver instruction

  3. Types

  4. Why have it? Advantages • Interactive, One-on-one interaction • Immediate Feedback • Personalized learning depending on the program • Adjusting difficulty to level of learner • Students work at their own pace • Can be used for instruction, remediation, and assessment • Consistency of information and how it is presented • Larger class sizes • Helps increase student achievement • Kids love technology!

  5. Why have it? Disadvantages • Cost • Equipment • Software • Training • Accountability of work • Less of a personal touch

  6. Final Thoughts • Computer aided instruction is here and will only continue to be more prominent. We need to be aware of these resources and how to use them properly. • I would like to see more CAI that involves students working with programs that forces them to think more globally. Hopefully they can connect with students from other countries. • Computer aided instruction does not have to mean one student and one computer. There are ways to do small group activities.
