  2. Skeleton mystery 52 skeletons were dug up by archaeologists at Maiden Castle in the south of England. What’s their story?

  4. Study clues A-D in your booklet. Do they help to answer any of your questions?

  5. A hypothesis is a possible explanation. Professor Knowall’s hypothesis is in your booklet. Do Clues A-D support his ideas? Do they prove he is right? What is your hypothesis?

  6. Use clues E-L to check his answers

  7. It’s almost time to write your final explanation.First of all, learn a lesson from Professor Knowall.

  8. In History you must back up your conclusions with evidence. The evidence is like a bridge. It must be strong enough to support your conclusion. Do not pretend you are more certain than you are.

  9. What parts of Knowall’s evidence are not supported by strong evidence?

  10. NOW… Write your own paragraph giving your answer to the Mystery of the Skeletons. Who were they? Who killed them? How were they buried? Which clues were most helpful and why? How certain are you?
