Transmission plan for IP Connectivity of Node-B to RNC

Detailed plan for connecting Node-B to RNC in a 3G network using optical fiber, MW, and HDSL technology. Six types of connectivity are proposed, including NodeB-FTTH-RNC and NodeB-CPE8-Tier2-RNC setups.

  1. Annexure-I BHARAT SANCHAR NIGAM LIMITED RAJASTHAN TELECOM CIRCLE Transmission plan for IP Connectivity of Node-B to RNC

  2. Present Node-b connectivity Present 3G network is designed with Node-B and RNC. The Hub - Sub Hub – Node B architecture is being adopted. At each Node-B 3E1 are considered for the design. • HUB – Fiber is available at these location. • SUB HUB – Fiber is available at these location. • Node B – Node B 3E1 Connectivity is on OFC/MW/HDSL .

  3. Proposed Node-b connectivity Node-B Node-B BSNL Tx Equip Channelised STM Node-B Node-B Node-B RNC BSNL IP Network of NIB

  4. Proposed Node-b connectivity • RNC will be connected to NIB network via one optical GE Port. A single aggregated connectivity for all the nodes will be provided. The complete aggregation of the all the Node B will be done in NIB network. • All the Node-B will be connected to NIB network in star topology. • Node-B which will not be connected in IP network. Will be connected via Chanalized STM.

  5. Types of connectivity • New connectivity is divided into Six types • Type1 : NodeB --- Tier2 – RNC • Type2 : NodeB --- FTTH– Tier2 – RNC • Type3 : NodeB --- CPE8 – Tier2 – RNC • Type4 : NodeB --- CPE8 – FTTH – Tier2 – RNC • Type5 : NodeB --- 3 E1 – Chanalized STM – RNC • Type6 : Node B FE port --- FE to 4E1/8E1/16E1 convertor- –- E1 over MW/OFC---- 4E1/8E1/16E1 to FE convertor-----FTTH/Tier2 – RNC

  6. Type 1 Connectivity • In this connectivity Node B will be directly connected to tier2 network of the NIB which in turn will be connected to RNC. FE Port (electrical) Tier2 Node B Optical Port Optical Port RTXM 191DD5-B WHTD 453001 1.25G-40KM-1550nm SM-ESFP Node B with this configuration will be require 1550nm SFP

  7. Type2 Connectivity • For this type the connectivity will made using FTTH and tier2 of the NIB • For the southbound connectivity FTTH uses DWDM on single fiber. So ONT will be required which will provide four FE ports. ONT and its installation is to be arranged by BSNL. No other equipment will be connected to this ONT to provide full bandwidth to NodeB. FE Port (electrical) FTTH Tier2 ONT Node B Single Fiber 100Mbps Optical Port DWDM port Single fiber operates on UL 1310 nm DL 1490 nm Optical Port RTXM 191DD5-B WHTD 453001 1.25G-40KM-1550nm SM-ESFP Single fiber to 4 FE Electrical Ports

  8. Type 3 Connectivity • Type3 connectivity is defined as NodeB --- CPE8 – Tier2 • At present CPE8 are having the SFP with 1310nm while SFP at tier2 are having 1550nm. So it is required to change the SFP in CPE8. FE Port (electrical) Tier2 FE Port (electrical) TX equip CPE8 TX equip CPE8 Node B Optical Port RTXM 139-400 WHTD 003001 155M-15KM-1310nm SM-ESFP Optical Port RTXM 191DD5-B WHTD 453001 1.25G-40KM-1550nm SM-ESFP Optical Port

  9. Type4 connectivity • Type4 connectivity is defined as NodeB --- CPE8 – FTTH – Tier2 – RNC • For the southbound connectivity FTTH uses DWDM on single fiber. So ONT will be required which will provide four FE ports. ONT and its installation is to be arranged by BSNL. No other equipment will be connected to this ONT to provide full bandwidth to NodeB. FE Port (electrical) FE Port (electrical) Tier2 FTTH TX equip CPE8 TX equip CPE8 ONT Node B Single Fiber 100Mbps DWDM port Single fiber operates on UL 1310 nm DL 1490 nm Optical Port RTXM 139-400 WHTD 003001 155M-15KM-1310nm SM-ESFP Optical Port RTXM 191DD5-B WHTD 453001 1.25G-40KM-1550nm SM-ESFP Single fiber to 4 FE Electrical Ports Optical Port

  10. Type5 connectivity • Type5 connectivity is defined as NodeB --- 3E1 – Channelised STM– RNC • This connectivity will be used for remaining NodeBs i.e. NodeB on M/W and HDSL These Node B will be connected via chanalised STM. • Three E1 from 15 NodeB will be multiplexed in to one chanalized STM by the BSNL. This STM will be connected to RNC. TX equip TX equip RNC Node B STM1 3E1

  11. Type6 connectivity • Type 6 connectivity is defined as Node B FE port --- FE to 4E1/8E1/16E1 convertor – E1 over MW/OFC---- 4E1/8E1/16E1 to FE convertor----- FTTH/Tier2 – RNC FE Port (electrical) FE Port (electrical) RNC FTTH/ Tier2 4E1/ 8E1/ 16E1 FE to 4E1/ 8E1/ 16 E1 convertor TX equip MW/OFC TX equip MW/OFC 4E1/8E1/ 16 E1 to FE convertor Node B 4E1/ 8E1/ 16E1 Optical Port

  12. RNC Connectivity • RNC will be connected to NIB at tier2. • Optical GE port will be used for the same. Wavelength for the same will be 1550nm. Tier2 RNC Optical Port RTXM 191DD5-B WHTD 453001 1.25G-40KM-1550nm SM-ESFP RNC with optical GE port - 1550nm SFP
