CRICKET BCCI will select MS Dhoni only for his farewell series: Report BY DIBYAROOP-BOSE OCT 25, 2019 15:56 Every week there are new speculations regarding MS Dhoni's future and this one is no different with new reports suggesting that a comeback into the national side for him is impossible. According to Mumbai Mirror's later reports, the former Team India skipper will not be selected in the national
squad ever again. However, the selection committee will only give him a chance to return for a farewell series. Ever since India's semi-final exit from the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 against New Zealand in August, MSD made himself unavailable for selection. During his break from cricket, the 38-year-old also served for the Indian Army too. After being absent from the Indian squad which took on West Indies and South Africa in the past months, Dhoni now has also backed out from Bangladesh series. According to the rumor mills, Dhoni is now set to train with the Jharkhand U23 side in his hometown to get back to full fitness again. The selection committee at first went with Rishabh Pant as a long term replacement of 'Mahi' but he was also dropped recently for the three-match Test series after some below-average performances for the 'Men In Blue'. Newly appointed BCCI president Sourav Ganguly also spoke about the former Indian captain's future and all the speculations over his future. Even though Ganguly refused to make any comments on the speculations but did say that it's totally up to MSD to decide whether he wants to continue or not. "It depends on him. Even when I was left out, the entire world said that he will never make it. I believed in myself and played for four years. Champions don't finish very quickly," the BCCI President said.
