Elaborate, How? • Quotes • Similes, metaphors, analogies • Anecdotes • Examples • Strong, vivid verbs and adjectives • Facts, statistics • Sensory Images or Word Pictures
Sensory Details • As writers we can create vivid pictures by using words that appeal to our readers’ senses. Words that engage the senses of hearing, sight, touch, taste, and smell will help readers to experience what you are describing.
Directions: Read the sentences on page 39 and then write the sensory words on the lines provided. Example #1 The old and rusty steel door creaked as we opened it.
