The cracked glass effect which links to the title on the cover. It could connote the effect of rock music as it is typically meant to be played loud and is typically very wild music. Giving away Posters is a good way for readers to get something else from a magazine, something as a keep sake of their favourite artists.
BLENDER MAGAZINE CONTENTS PAGE The title is very bold across the page. The letter is slightly like bubble writing and the common colours throughout the page is white and dark pink. This could signify the target audience as being young girls as it has a girly, bright and sweet feel to it. The page isn’t as striking and eye catching as other magazines, young girls are more likely to skip this page and look at the pictures than read lots of information. The text is very small and confined so that the focus is more on the picture, which dominates the page. This could again link to the target audience seeming to be young girls and how they would most likely not want to read lots of information and would be more interested in looking at pictures of their favourite artists and what they are wearing etc. They have included onto the contents page a quote from their interview which is also different for a contents page. It’s an interesting quote in that it could make a reader see it and want to read more about how she came into the music business. This contents page is again very simplistic. It focuses on one artist, Katy Perry, and the picture of her looks very feminine and young. She is holding a giant mushroom, which is certainly different to other contents pages. This could link to the upbeat pop style music she was producing at this time.
