The 3GPP SeminarModule 3 • Writing contributions which count
To make your company’s point at a 3GPP meeting, your contribution should: • Be writtenA verbal contribution’s not worth the paper it’s written on. • Be short • Be precise of objective • Be in reasonably good English • Understandable • Unambiguous • Clear • Have a conclusion • Give proposals for further action
Tips for preparing contributions • Use the TDoc template provided for the meeting • Be guided by the drafting rules (TR 21.801) so your contribution will be clear • Obtain a TDoc number • Know which agenda item it will be addressed under
Tips for presenting contributions • Be ready to present your contribution at the appropriate point in the meeting • Speak clearly – don’t mumble ! • Speak close to the microphone • Do not read your contribution word for word • Skip over complicated background material – stick to the essentials • State the conclusion clearly • State any proposals clearly • Finish cleanly – don’t tail off; make the chairman aware your verbal presentation has finished
In 3GPP, TDocs are not re-issued with “rev1” suffixes. Each revision gets a new TDoc number. • If you provide a TDoc to the meeting, then find there is an error in it … • Do not attempt to retract the document from the meeting inbox and replace it ! • Withdraw it and obtain a new TDoc number for the correction.
