Thorncliffe Hall, Hollingworth, Cheshire, SK14 8JJ www.catalystmanagement.co.uk The Emergence of Private Mobile Networking Gary Nield Managing Director
Thorncliffe Hall, Hollingworth, Cheshire, SK14 8JJ www.catalystmanagement.co.uk • Introducing Private Mobile Networks • How many Mobile phone customers would like to walk around Campus and use a Mobile phone without incurring charges from their mobile provider?
Thorncliffe Hall, Hollingworth, Cheshire, SK14 8JJ www.catalystmanagement.co.uk • Key Features of a PMN • Recent spectrum auction has provided the opportunity to create a private network in any geographic location, that exists separate from the GSM network • Whilst on campus, mobile phone users can call others without using their existing mobile provider (e.g. T Mobile, Orange etc) • Mobile phones detect the new network and utilise it to connect to other users on campus • Users can also use existing PABX or SIP gateway to make external calls, again bypassing the mobile operators network
Thorncliffe Hall, Hollingworth, Cheshire, SK14 8JJ www.catalystmanagement.co.uk • Key Features • A PMN (Private Mobile Network) provides users with the ability to add existing mobile telephones to their own internal voice network. • PMN is a private GSM network available to users within a campus site. • PMN is available across a wide area linking sites within one network. • PMN maintains continuity even when the public network is not functioning.
