  2. Katsushika Hokusai • Known as “the man who painted a mountain” • Also known for his woodblock prints • He was orphaned as a young boy but grew into an artist • He had dreams of painting the “magic mountain” that he could see from his village as a young boy

  3. Students will…. • Know where artists get their ideas • Draw a contour line drawing of a Mt. Fuji inspired landscape • Have objects far and near, big and small • Create cherry blossoms using stippling painting technique

  4. Standards • 1.2 – Students will know the differences between techniques • 2.2 Student will describe how different expressive features (of the elements of art and principles of design) cause different responses • 5.2 Student will describe how people’s experiences influence the development of specific culture
