Mission Statement • The mission of the Brunswick High School Teaching Academy is • To recruit academically talented students • with an interest in education, • who exhibit the characteristics necessary to become successful classroom teachers, • To provide them with a foundation for careers in a teaching profession • To prepare them to enter an education program at a post-secondary institution. Admissions Requirements • 3.00 grade point average • Enrollment in the “University of Maryland” Completer or Dual Completer Program • 90% Attendance rate • Student essay telling why the student wishes to enroll in the Teaching Academy (250 words) • Two staff letters of recommendation • Entering 11th or 12th grade Brunswick High School 2008

Program Completion Requirements • Meet graduation requirements • Satisfy the University of Maryland or Dual Completer Program of Study • Earn six credits for the Human Services Career Pathway “Education Focus” Course List • Successfully complete “Introduction to Teaching” • Complete a Field Experience – Teacher Education Related (1-3 credits) Brunswick High School 2008
