  1. Can You Handle the Truth?

  2. Jesus Believed in Absolute Truth • "Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.” (John 17:17 NKJV)

  3. Rightly Dividing (Study Carefully) To Discern Truth • “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15 NKJV)

  4. Can You Handle the Truth About Jesus As the Only Savior? • When they heard these things they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with their teeth. (Acts 7:54 NKJV) • Then they cried out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and ran at him with one accord; and they cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul. And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on God and saying, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not charge them with this sin." And when he had said this, he fell asleep. (Acts 7:57-60 NKJV)

  5. Can You Handle the Truth About Marriage? • Now to the married I command, yet not I but the Lord: A wife is not to depart from her husband. But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband is not to divorce his wife. But to the rest I, not the Lord, say: If any brother has a wife who does not believe, and she is willing to live with him, let him not divorce her. And a woman who has a husband who does not believe, if he is willing to live with her, let her not divorce him. (1 Corinthians 7:10-13 NKJV)

  6. Can You Handle the Truth About • Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortionerswill inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God. (1 Corinthians 6:9-11 NKJV)

  7. Can You Handle the Truth About Women Teachers? • in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works. Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression. (1 Timothy 2:9-14 NKJV)

  8. Be Confident With the Truth…Do Not Doubt • "These things I have spoken to you, that you should not be made to stumble. "They will put you out of the synagogues; yes, the time is coming that whoever kills you will think that he offers God service. "And these things they will do to you because they have not known the Father nor Me. (John 16:1-3 NKJV)

  9. Be Confident With the Truth…Do Not Doubt • "Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword. "For I have come to 'set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law'; "and 'a man's enemies will be those of his own household.' "He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. (Matthew 10:34-37 NKJV)

  10. People Who Can Handle the Truth Fear God, Not Men • But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: "We ought to obey God rather than men. (Acts 5:29 NKJV)

  11. People Who Can Handle the Truth Fear God, Not Men • In God I have put my trust; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me? (Psalms 56:11 NKJV)

  12. We WILL suffer persecution if we live godly. • Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. (2 Timothy 3:12 NKJV)

  13. People Who Can Handle the Truth Fear God, Not Men • The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me? (Psalms 118:6 NKJV)

  14. People Who Can Handle the Truth Fear God, Not Men • So we may boldly say: "The LORD is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?" (Hebrews 13:6 NKJV)

  15. People Who Can Handle the Truth Will Not Fear Rejection From Others • Immediately there fell from his eyes something like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was baptized. So when he had received food, he was strengthened. Then Saul spent some days with the disciples at Damascus. Immediately he preached the Christ in the synagogues, that He is the Son of God. (Acts 9:18-20 NKJV)

  16. People Who Can Handle the Truth Fear God, Not Men • But Saul increased all the more in strength, and confounded the Jews who dwelt in Damascus, proving that this Jesus is the Christ. (Acts 9:22 NKJV)

  17. People Who Can Handle the Truth Fear God, Not Men • Now after many days were past, the Jews plotted to kill him. (Acts 9:23 NKJV)

  18. People Who Can Handle the Truth Are Not Ashamed of the Gospel • Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel, to which I was appointed a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles. For this reason I also suffer these things; nevertheless I am not ashamed, for I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep what I have committed to Him until that Day. (2 Timothy 1:8-12 NKJV)

  19. People Who Can Handle the Truth Are Willing to Give Up Homes & Family • "And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life. (Matthew 19:29 NKJV)

  20. People Who Can Handle the Truth Are Willing to Give Up Homes & Family • Jesus said to him, "Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and preach the kingdom of God." And another also said, "Lord, I will follow You, but let me first go and bid them farewell who are at my house." But Jesus said to him, "No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God." (Luke 9:60-62 NKJV)

  21. People Who Can Handle the Truth Are Not Entangled w/Worldly Possessions • Now behold, one came and said to Him, "Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?" So He said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments." He said to Him, "Which ones?" Jesus said, "'You shall not murder,' 'You shall not commit adultery,' 'You shall not steal,' 'You shall not bear false witness,' 'Honor your father and your mother,' and, 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'" The young man said to Him, "All these things I have kept from my youth. What do I still lack?" Jesus said to him, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me." But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions. (Matthew 19:16-22 NKJV)

  22. People Who Can Handle the Truth Are Willing to Give Up Their Very Lives • "For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel's will save it. "For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? "Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? "For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels." (Mark 8:35-38 NKJV)

  23. Baptism: Many Cannot Handle the Truth • “Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins…”(Acts 22:16 NKJV) • “…as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. (Galatians 3:27 NKJV) • “…the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved. (they were baptized Acts 2:47 NKJV) • “…as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? (Romans 6:3 NKJV) • “There …an antitype which now saves us--baptism…the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, (1 Peter 3:21 NKJV)
