RosaStill the first and only-UK-wide Women’s fund Rosa stands for a world where All women are: • free from fear or violence, • enjoy full health and wellbeing, • experience economic justice and • have equal and fair representation. Mobilising resources for women’s equality by: • Championing the women’s sector and encouraging others to invest in it. • Connecting individuals, organisations and sectors; developing collaborative solutions: developing leaders and leadership, building a movement for change. • Generating revenue from corporates, industries and individualsto invest in grassroots women’s organisations and national campaigns through grants, mentor-matching, training, networking.
Justice and Equality Fund The Justice and Equality Fund is managed by Rosaand aims to bring an end to the culture of sexual harassment, abuse and impunity by resourcing an expert network of advice, support and advocacy organisations and projects. Inspired by the phenomenal campaigners of #metoo, TIME’s UP, Ni Nunca Mas, the #lifeinleggings movements and others, a group of UK-based women from the entertainment industry have come together to challenge the culture that permits people in positions of power to sexually harass and abuse others. The Justice and Equality Fund aims to make workplaces and other contexts just, safe and equitable for all and ensure anyone who has been subjected to harassment and abuse, including sexual violence at work is better able access support and justice. There are three programmes of funding under the Justice and Equality Fund • Advice and Support (closed) • Now’s the Time (small grants closed, large grants open) • Changing the Conversation (closed)
Now’s the Time (large grants) Now’s the Time is the second programme from the Justice and Equality Fund. The programme aims to amplify the voices of individuals and groups who are calling for an end to sexual harassment and abuse, in their workplaces and in their communities. We want to resource imaginative, collaborative and creative grassroots activism so we are asking organisations to apply by answering the question: “What would you do towards ending sexual harassment (in work places and in communities)?”
What work will ‘Now’s the Time’ support? • Prevention work • Awareness raising activities • Imaginative and creative grassroots activism • Influencing work • Work with groups and communities who might face additional barriers to getting their voices heard, or might be at higher risk of sexual harassment and abuse to amplify those voices • Work that tries out new ideas • Work that replicates tried and tested approaches in new settings • Work that others can learn from We are particularly keen to see cross-sector partnerships where the expertise of specialist voluntary sector organisations at the forefront of this work, is shared with others to help drive broader change.
Now’s the Time – Large Grants Large grants programme currently open. Grants £25,000 - £100,000 over one to three years: There is a total of £750K to award in this round. Partnership applications only – women’s organisation must be lead applicant (can partner with a non-women’s organisation) Closing date for applications is 5pm on Friday 14th December 2018. Try not to leave it until the closing date to submit your application. Ensure you meet all the eligibility criteria outlined in the guidelines
Partnerships • Women’s organisations must apply in partnership with a least one other organisation and there is no limit of the number of partners you can have. • You should arrange to have a partnership agreement or memorandum of understanding in place. • Partners do not have to be women’s organisations, or even voluntary and community sector organisations. In fact we are keen to see applications reaching beyond the sector. • We are very open to the nature of partnership you describe and will discuss this with you further during the assessment if your application is shortlisted. • Women’s organisations cannot receive two Now’s the Time grants as the lead applicant organisation, but could be a partner in multiple applications/awards.
Now’s the Time – application process Applicants must submit an online application form and attach supporting documents as requested. (Please note: there is no eligibility criteria re the income of the applicant women’s organisations, however we would expect applicants to have a track record in managing similar amounts, or demonstrate clear skill and capacity to deliver - we are unlikely to support new organisations). • Questions about your organisation: • Contact details • What your organisation does* • Partners • Eligibility test: • E.g. • Women’s organisation • Charitable organisation • Work in UK • Applying in partnership
Now’s the Time – application process Questions about the grant proposal include: • What you want to do (detail on partnership essential) • Why you want to take this approach • What you expect to learn and how you will share learning • Your track record in this field • Budget (primarily revenue costs): • To spend over one to three years. • Only include costs you are applying to Rosa for. • You must be able to spend the grant within 36 months of receipt. • Budget should equal total request (this must include the mandatory £150 per year travel/expcost). • Ensure you show your working out clearly. • Any staff costs included should be paid at the national minimum wage and ideally the Living Wage. • Be specific. • We can fund core costs as the total request or part/proportion of a project (i.e. full cost recovery).
Supporting Documents You will need to up-load supporting documents. If any documentation is not submitted the application will be considered incomplete and withdrawn. Please ensure all supporting documents are clear and readable. Unfortunately we do not have the capacity to request applicants to re-submit individual documents. Again do not leave it until the closing date to up-load your supporting documents. • Please upload your most recent annual signed report and accounts (if your most recent accounts are not yet ready please provide draft or management accounts signed by your Chair or Treasurer) • Please upload your organisation’s budget for the current year. • If your application is for work with children or vulnerable adults • Please upload a copy of a bank statement from within the last 3 months • Please upload a signed copy of the governing document for your organisation Whilst we know many small organisation’s have very basic accounts we do expect these to include a reasonable amount of detail showing sources of income and expenditure as well as levels of restricted and unrestricted reserves as far as possible. This should detail sources of predicted and secured income as well as confirmed and anticipated expenditure. We expect all organisations to submit a robust safeguarding policy. Your bank statement should show a date, your account name and number as well as recent transactions and account balance. This should be your full signed governing document ( i.e. memorandum and articles of applicable)
Submitting your application • Access online application via our website. If you have applied previously please use your existing login details to log in and start a new application. • You can simply save your form and come back to it at a later date. To access your form again, use this link then log in using your email address and the password you created. • If you forget your password you can create a new one by clicking on ‘Forgot Password?’ and following the instructions. • You will be asked to submit supporting documents as attachments. Please note that there is a 25 MB upload limit.
What happens next? Applications are screened for eligibility and shortlisted by Rosa staff Organisations whose applications are not shortlisted will be notified Shortlisted applicants will be fully assessed including a pre-arranged assessment call (please note you may be asked to submit additional information) Both successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified. Grantees will be required to address any additional conditions and return a signed agreement Grant will be paid (annual instalments for multi-year awards) and Rosa provides ongoing support and networking opportunities to grantees
