  2. Lesson Objectives:TEKS: A1.a, A1c, A1d • Use the graphs, tables, pictures, etc. to represent a given verbal situation. • Use symbols and numbers to represent a given verbal situations. • Solve problems that arise from the given problem situation.

  3. Released TAKS A waitress at a local restaurant earns $3.25 per hour plus tips. In two weeks she earned a total of $720, including $531.50 in tips. How many hours did the waitress work during this 2-week period?

  4. Work the problem • Identify the unknown; Define your variables • Identify key information in the problem • Write your equation • Check for truth value • Answer the question!

  5. Example 2 Which expression best describes the volume of a rectangular prism that has a width of 3a 3 bc 4 units, a length of 7a 5 b 2c 2 units, and a height of 4ab 3c units?

  6. Work the problem • Identify the unknown; Define your variables • Identify key information in the problem • Write your equation • Check for truth value • Answer the question!

  7. Released TAKS • Go to lesson attachments • Circled questions we’ve covered-equations • Rectangled questions are similar-inequalities • Inequality-A mathematical expression which shows that two quantities are not equal. ( >, >, ≥, ≤, or ≠)

  8. Lesson Objectives:Review • Use the graphs, tables, pictures, etc. to represent a given verbal situation. • Use symbols and numbers to represent a given verbal situations. • Solve problems that arise from the given problem situation.
