It is a science that examines the Earth’s crust -its structures and composition in order to find areas of petroleum accumulation. • It is a three year fulltime programme that covers the full spectrum of the petroleum exploration and development. • The programme is a unique internationally recognised and accredited programme. Due to the need for highly trained local graduates to fill professional positions in the industry. • This was all possible because of the initial funding and support received from some of the major companies in the oil industry in Trinidad. • It continues to be monitored through the Liaison/Advisory committee and International accreditation How did this programme start?
The department has 4 full time Academic and 2 support staff. • The industry provides the 16 part-time lecturers needed for courses. • 126 graduates to date of which 40% are first class honours. • All of the graduates are either working in the industry or doing graduate degrees incl PhDs.
