Epiphysis- ends covered by articular cartilage (Hyaline). The epiphysis is composed mostly of spongy bone which cushions and absorbs stress. The epiphyseal plate allows long bones to grow longer (Proximal and Distal ends)
Diaphysis- middle or shaft it is made up of compact bone surrounding the medullary cavity which contains yellow marrow (fat)
