WELCOME TOSPLASHShow People Love And Share Him • When this seven week study is over you will. • Recognize your SPLASH Zones • Have a SPLASH Effectiveness Partner • Have a Kingdom perspective on outreach
INTRODUCTION TO SPLASH • WE ARE IN A DESPERATE NEED TO RETURN TO THE “JESUS” WAY OF OUTREACH. • TO ACCOMPLISH THIS WE NEED TO • MAKE A COMMITMENT TO READ EACH CHAPTER AND REFLECT ON EACH QUESTION. • SELECT A “SPLASH EFFECTIVENESS PARTNER,” (SEP see glossary).
INTRODUCTION TO SPLASH • We will experience “group time each week. • To create an environment for personal change in order to approach every relationship with a “kingdom agenda.” • For discussing how we are implementing the SPLASH concept in our lives and how we have impacted someone in our SPLASH ZONE (see glossary)
Session One: SHOW
SPLASH • Show • People • Love • And • Share • Him
WHAT LIFE LESSONS DOES JESUS WANT US TO UNDERSTAND? • Luke 7:39-50 • Luke 7:39 “This man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what kind of woman this is who is touching Him – she’s a sinner!” • Luke 7:48 “Your sins are forgiven.”
LIFE LESSONS IN LUKE 7:39-50 • WORK FROM A MOTIVE • Luke 7:39 “This man, if He were a prophet, would know who and what kind of woman this is who is touching Him – she’s a sinner!” • Luke 7:48 “Your sins are forgiven.”
LIFE LESSON; LUKE 7:39-50 2. BUILD THE RELATIONSHIP • THE WASHING OF THE FEET • THE KISSING ON THE CHEEK • THE ANOINTING OF THE HEAD • IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO MEET PEOPLE WHERE THEY ARE IN LIFE, IN ORDER TO BRING THEM WHERE THEY NEED TO BE.
Foundational Principles • 1) God is everywhere and always at work advancing His kingdom. • John 5:18 “My Father is still working, and I am working also.” • John 5:19 “The Son can do nothing of Himself.” • John 5:20 “The Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself is doing.”
For Group Discussion • QUESTION #1 : Can you think of a situation where your Christian Values have conflicted with the values of the crowd? • QUESTION #2: Do you find it hard to develop a relationship with others because you are a Christian? • QUESTION #3: Are you intentionally seeking opportunities to develop relationship?
Foundational Principles • 2) Prayer is the key to seeing God at work and showing people love. • 3) The harvest is abundant. Luke 10:2 The harvest is abundant, but the workers are few. Therefore pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into the harvest.”
MY SPLASH ZONE In Luke 10:2, the passage suggests to us that the Word in alive and as relevant today as when written. Before we can SHOW we must first ask: “To whom would God have me SHOW CHRIST?” • Pray now and ask God to give you the names of persons you can SHOW love to.
Foundational Principles • 4) Being a witness is not an option. Witness is what we are before it is what we do! Luke 24:48 “You are witness of these things.” • Just as the disciples were eye witnesses of the earthly ministry of Christ and experienced something they could tell, • You and I have experienced the same empowerment those first disciples were given. • The Spirit of God testifies through us what God has done in Christ and allows us to SHOW others.
Foundational Principles • 5) We must get the salt out of the shaker. Matthew 5:13 “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt should lose its taste, how can it be made salty?” • ANSWER THE FOLLOWING. • How many non-Christian relationships do you have? • How close are you to them? • How should we balance our time with Christian and non-Christian relationships?
Hallowed be Thy Name • Matthew 6:9 “Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name.” • John 17:6 “I have revealed Your name to the men you gave Me from the world.” • We must show Him if we are to be effective in sharing Him.
Learn from the Master • John 4 – Jesus shows the Samaritan woman the Living Water. • John 8 – Jesus shows grace to the woman taken in adultery. • Luke 19 – Jesus shows Zacchaeus a little tenderness.
How do you show people love? • What do the stories we looked at have in common? • How did Jesus’ behavior open a door for further conversation? • Who demonstrated the Gospel to you? • What recent event in your life was a demonstration of the Gospel?
PARTNER WITH YOUR “SEP” • DISCUSS THE ASSIGNMENT FROM THE READING.
