Thier homes The Gabrielino tribe had many different homes. They used willow poles and cordage to make their homes. Their homes were shaped like domes. The domes were able to hold 50 to 60 people. They built their domes near the ocean coast to avoid the cold air.
What they eat? The Gabrielino all got thier foods from the sea. They ate tuna, swordfish, sharks, shellfish, sea animals, and sea birds. The people in the foothills gathered acorns and pinon nuts.
Thier jobs The Gabrielino had different kinds of jobs. The women’s jobs were to make baskets the men hunted and trapped animals.
What they wore The Gabrielino had clothes for men and women. Women wore apron’s made out of bark from the willow or cotton wood trees. The men and women wore capes made of deer skin. Men wore breech clothes.
Thier ceremonies The Gabrielino had ceremonies when someone died and when someone had a new baby. Babies can’t get their name for an entire week. During the first week everyone danced, feasted and sang to celebrate the new baby.
INERESTING FACTS THE Gabrielino men put tattoo from their eyes to their chest. They may have been the richest and most powerful group of people in the Sothern California.
