  2. Security Scans • These scans are required to qualify personal, donated or site provided computers as TWO wireless workstations • Norton Security Scan • Secunia’s Online Software Inspector (OSI) • The scans are recommended, but not mandatory, for any computer used on the Internet

  3. Security Scans • Both scans are on-line and there is nothing installed on the computer. • The Online Software Inspector (OSI) program does requires that your computer have Sun Java installed. If it is not installed, a link is provided to download and install the Sun Java program.

  4. Norton Security Scan • Norton offers two on-line scans • Use the Security Scan

  5. Norton Security Scan • The scan checks the listed areas and will be completed in about a minute or less.

  6. Norton Security Scan • Sometimes the scans will report a discrepancy that is acceptable. • The Norton software only recognizes the more commonly used anti-virus software and your’s may not be on the list. • And some Internet service providers open ports that are normally closed.

  7. Norton Security Scan • If you are scanning a personal, donated or site provided computer for use as a TWO Wireless workstation you need to save a screen shot of the scan results page. • This image will be sent to AARP Tax-Aide when you register the computer for Wireless TWO use

  8. Online Software Inspector (OSI) • This scan checks to see that your security related programs are up to date with the latest version and updates • It too can take less than a minute

  9. Security Scans • If either scan detects a problem, follow the instructions to get it resolved and then run the scan again until your computer passes the scan tests. • After you have successfully passed both scan tests, go to the Tax-Aide Security Scan website.

  12. Tax-Aide Security Scan Website • Type the computer information on page 3 • Attach the image from the Norton Scan • Explain Discrepancies, if any, in box at the bottom
