Tibet Travel Trip - My Feelings and Thoughts & Tibetan Architecture and Religion Before paying a visit to Lhasa, I did not know much about Buddhism, Tibetan traditions and customs or its architecture either. Visiting various monasteries, temples, breathtaking landscapes and conversing with locals made me curious to know more about the sacred culture and religion of Tibet. The best part being, the local Tibetan travel agency we had booked did a fabulous job telling us many stories back from 7th century AD when the Buddhism got introduced into Tibet, how Tibetans live as per Buddhism principles, the customs they follow and how Tibet differs from China in terms of language, custom, religion, and history. Undoubtedly, this trip to Tibet was a great lesson for me to learn: a lesson not only of history but humility as well. Lhasa, Tibet‟s Capital City
A short thankful note for the best local Tibetan travel agency I had booked to soak myself in the mesmerizing beauty of Tibet, famously known as „Roof of the World.‟ “Tibet Universal International Tours and Travel – You guys were just awesome. It was just so great to have been able to make me explore the country‟s breathtaking beauty. What was even greater was the quality of service you and your friendly staff provided. The meals and accommodation were excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed all the sites I explored. The tour guide was very knowledgeable about the sites he made m visited and narrated the custom and traditions behind. A big Thank You and kudos from my end.” The Best Tibetan Travel Agency Tibetan Religion Tibetan Buddhism, which got introduced into Tibet in the 7th century AD is the dominant religion in Tibet. You will find numerous temples in Tibet where religious Tibetans come into and pray. Tibetans are deeply rooted and dedicated to religious faith, therefore, religious customs are an intrinsic part of every Tibetan‟s life. Tibetans are strongly influenced by the local Bon religion and Buddhism. Before Buddhism came into existence, the Bön religion was widespread in Tibet region. Tibetans practice meditation and believe in the connection between life and death.
Get a Glimpse of Religious ‘Tibet’ While being in Lhasa, what I witnessed is how strong this religion is in both monastic communities and among Tibetan people. And talking about Tibet‟s culture, it is unique in the world. Their culture and customs reflect the economy, psychology, politics, history, and culture of the Tibetans. They cover a wide range and are blatant in a diverse form, from clothing, food, and entertainment to specific forms of funeral services and Tibetan Buddhism. Tibetan Culture and Customs
Talking about Tibetan rituals, it includes making an offering to the statues of Buddha and attending public meetings where people are found praying loudly and playing cymbals and gongs. Tibetans offering prayers And what I liked the most is their „Prayer Flag‟ which come in a set of five, one top of each five colors, where Blue symbolizes Sky, White symbolizes Water, Yellow symbolizes Earth, Green symbolizes Air, and Red symbolizes Fire. Tibetans follow a belief of writing their prayers on the flag with a hope that it will be answered by the Buddha. And thanks to these flags, Tibet looks so colorful! A stunning looking Tibet!!
Tibetan Architecture Tibetan architecture is an amalgamation of Indian and Chinese styles expressing a deeply Buddhist approach. I loved and adored the colorful doors and windows the most. What the most unusual is that most of the houses, buildings, and monasteries are being built on elevated, sunny sites facing the South. They are mainly built with rocks, earth, and cement. The temporary sand mandala made by the Tibetan monks also looks stunning!! The beautiful Tibetan architecture! I was truly taken aback seeing the beautiful design of Tibetan houses and temples and the power of Buddhism. Tibet is simply the most magical and colorful place on the Earth! And it justifies its names of being called as the ‘Roof of the World.’
