Background • E3 Network was designed to provide an additional day to VLBI EOP determination • Uses the S2 recorder and Data Acquisition System (2 Frequency-Agile Baseband Converters) • Operates at 128 Mbps, 18 Channels (10 X, 8 S) • Offers an independent check for systematic differences • 45 Sessions since March, 2002
Scheduling • Complicated by Small dishes • Continuous Tape motion • Typical Session has ~1300 scheduled obs, 400-700 used in analysis • Correlation at 6 station Correlator at Dominion Radio Astronomical Observatory (DRAO)
E3 Contribution to TRF • Adds unique point at CTVASTJ • Bulk of Yellowknife observations • CTVASTJ Position (2004 epoch) determined to: Up: 9 mm, 0.5 mm/yr East: 1 mm, 0.9 mm/yr North: 1 mm, 1.0 mm/yr
EOP Comparisons • Comparisons of E3 EOP results against IVS R series are made after all sessions • CALC/SOLVE solution with C04 Series removed • Best E3 sessions compare very well, sessions with station problem indicate network is not robust
GPS Clock Comparison • Add IGS Final Clock solution for ALGO and KOKEE to E3 delay in E3011 (not IVS database product) • Solved using only Clock offset, or using tight clock constraints
Future (VLBI2010) • CTVA victim to XM RFI – Upgrade or Move • PC based replacement for the S2 recorder • Software Correlator License from NICT • Unattended operations at CTVA/Yellowknife
