LAUDATO ‘SI ONE DAY WORKSHOP For the novices of the Inter-novitiate gathering in Toronto Conducted by Sr. Magdalena Vogt Walk Softly upon the Earth. Take off your shoes, for this is holy ground. Living our vocation to be protectors of God’s handiwork is essential to a life of virtue; it is not an optional or a secondary aspect of our Christian experience. Present at this day of sharing were CPS novices; Anglican novices of St. John the Divine; Redemptorist novices and Anglican male novices of The Holy Cross.
Urgent Issues • Human rights and dignity eroding. • Massive migration and immigration crises. • Environmental changes, water crises and the ramifications on all created life. • Misuse of technology e.g. bullying, identity theft, increase of on-line hatred, anger and incitement to terrorism. • International government destabilization, corruption and loss of trust. • Disillusionment in authority in all spheres especially in Belief systems such as Church due to sexual abuse and misuse of power. • Increased secularism.
And our CPS response is …….. • Remembering our fruitful tradition of educating women and men to develop their personal skills and how to care for others and all of creation. • Advocating more for the rights of others, especially continuing to write letters, meeting with government officials and provide vital input on social media, to walk with and support groups that promote life issues, to be willing to share our resources. • Being mindful of the value of our Prayer and Suffering Ministry, especially that of our elderly and ill. • Integrating Laudato Si into all aspects of our lives. The basics can be found in our Constitutions and Inner Spirit. • Meeting frequently to share how we do the work of integration in our daily lives and to evaluate how we are actually doing in keeping Pope Francis’ mandate.
