  2. Meaning of ad hoc • Ad hoc is a Latin phrase meaning “for this purpose.” • Ad hoc reports refer to reports that are designed for a specific problem or task. • An ad hoc report is a report that is designed from scratch for which you have complete jurisdiction over the content and design.

What is Soft Reports? • An integrated reporting tool developed by SCC Soft Computer that allows the user to design both ad hoc and patient results reports. • It also offers a web based tool called SoftReports Launcher that allows the user to run, schedule and track ad hoc reports. • The visual query builder functionality generates the SQL needed to create queries which makes it easy to use.

The Components of SoftReports Report Explorer Layout Editor Query Builder Executing Ad hoc Reports Scheduling Ad hoc Reports Tracking Ad hoc Reports • SoftReports Designer • SoftReports Launcher • SoftReports Formatter PC a dedicated PC/Server that accepts the report *.xml data from the individual modules and translates it into the SoftReports format (*.pdf). Two formatters are required for 5000 orders or less. If more then 5000 orders SCC will evaluate. • SoftReports Program software installed on the servers (“Main” and “Aux”) and user PC. • Application Servers - Tomcat, JBOSS, WebLogic, GlassFish

  14. Scheduling Tips • The lab printer scheduler and the SoftReports Launcher share the same crontab. • It is recommended that reports be scheduled at least 5 minutes between each job, whether or not the job is run from the Print Scheduler or SoftReports Launcher.

  28. Create Custom Desktop Custom Desktops offer a method of placing reports on a desktop so users may easily access the reports. Reports may be placed on the desktop by category. The user must have rights to SoftReports Launcher in order for them to access the Custom Desktop.

  33. How is the Custom Desktop Link created using SoftReports Designer In Report Explorer>Select Laboratory>Tools>Desktop>New Create the Custom Desktop URL

  34. Select the folder or folders that contain the reports you want on a desktop or just select the report that you want on a desktop > Select In SoftReports Designer Select Folder/Folders

  39. Welcome SoftReports Launcher Notice the URL that is displayed when you first login to SoftReports Launcher. This is the first part of your custom desktop URL.

Guidelines for determining the URL http://scc45-wp6:25013/SoftReports/login.rpt?prod=lab&desktop=LaboratoryDesktop6&user=scc $RPT_ENGINE_URL/login.rpt?prod=<Product_ID>&desktop=<V_Desktop_FileName>&user=<User_ID> Note:It is important to write down this Filename since it will later be used when we determine the URL for the Custom Desktop
