Description: • It is a conference to set limits, navigation, archipelagic status and transit regimes, exclusive economic zones, continental shelf jurisdiction, deep seabed mining, the exploitation regime, protection of the marine environment, scientific research, and settlement of disputes • The coastal states are free to regulate their waters 12 nautical miles from the baseline • Vessels are given the right of innocent passage through territorial waters • There is an extra 12 nautical miles where states enforce laws of pollution, taxation, customs, and immigration • 200 nautical miles where coastal nations has sole exploitation rights over all natural resources Environmental Issues: • It solves land disputes
