  1. WWW.VESTA-GIS.EU VESTA-GISVocational Education and Sectoral Training network on GIS & GI application domainsLIFELONG LEARNING PROGRAMME 2007 - 2013 Leonardo Da Vinci Network Duration: 01/11/2007 - 31/10/2010

  2. VESTA-GIS • Three main pillars • A Training Framework for GI courses, supported by an on-line catalog • A Mobility Framework • The Network (Leonardo Thematic Network)‏

  3. VESTA-GIS at a glance The aim is to to pool knowledge in the GIS domain (technology, applications), to share experience and foster innovation in vocational training by bringing together experts, organisations and users of GI and its application domains, as well as to identify the trends and skills requirements in this area and to improve the anticipated benefit of vocational training initiatives.

  4. VESTA-GIS at a glance The following main activities are foreseen: • Network Building and sharing knowledge • Analysis of training course offer and demand • Implementation of the Network training framework • Implementation of an e-learning platform • Training course catalogue building. • Promotion of people mobility • Exploitation and dissemination actions

  5. VESTA-GIS at a glance The network will be developed in the favourable framework of the new European Directives for environment and territory, which are dealing with problems that have reached a new European dimension (such as the INSPIRE Directive recently approved by the European Parliament). The project focuses in particular on these application domains: • (GI &) Water Resource Management • (GI &) Natural Environment Protection • (GI &) Coastal Management and Landscape

  6. VESTA-GIS target group • GI potential and actual users in the different EU Countries: • officers of Administrations (main users of geo-information) • environmental operators • companies providing GI services • fresh graduates approaching the labour market • providers of GIS training (both professional operators and GI experts and Academy)‏

  7. VESTA-GIS Training Framework • Metadata for Training Courses • Training course catalogue • A flexible organisation in the training material • A course builder • Links to courses organised or hosted by the partners • Courses hosted in the VESTA-GIS e-Learning platform

  8. VESTA-GIS Mobility Framework • Definition of a Template Agreement for the VESTA- • GIS Mobilities • Organisation of mobility demand (offers for hosting)‏ • CVs organisation into an on-line database (protected)‏ • Matching placement offers-demand

  9. VESTA-GIS Mobility Framework

  10. VESTA-GIS Certificate • Compliant with the European Credit system for • Vocational and Educational Training – ECVET • (Recommendation adopted by the Commission on • 09/04/2008)‏ • Based upon the EUROPASS system • Linked with the European Computer Driving Licence

  11. The VESTA-GIS Partnership • Co-ordinator and Core members: to take the responsibility of the project development and tasks, according to their expertise and to satisfy specific requirements of the project • Associated members: They contribute to the networking training activity as regards transfer of skills, methodology and tools, in a wide trans-national context and according to their specific interest

  12. Around 70 partners from 21 European countries 7 Core partners 64 Associated partners Open network All the organisations interested to share their experience are welcome in VESTA-GIS

  20. The Thematic sub-Networks A great opportunity for sharing experiences and enhance knowledge and skills is given by the thematic application fields: • Water Resource Management • Natural Environmental Protection • Coastal Management and Landscape • .................................. Networking is a tool as well as an objective of VESTA-GIS. In this view it is important to enlarge its thematic networks and, at the same time, to improve the relationships among their members

  21. The Thematic sub-Networks Within VESTA-GIS the partners have the opportunity to confront themselves and cooperate on the following issues: Water Resource Management Natural Environmental Protection Water management Technological networks Water resources conservation Water quality Water distribution in urban areas Water monitoring Hydroinformatics Other Nature conservation policies Protected area management Environmental applications Specific GIS applications Peculiar ecosystems Landscape modelling Land uses Other Coastal morphology Coastal ecosystems & marine protected areas Human pressure Coastal monitoring Coastal management and planning Landscape planning & management in coastal areas Other Coastal Management and Landscape
