  1. Port insulation ProE model: stb-vv_boots_portinsul.asm T. Brown 4/17/08

  2. VV with port boots

  3. Typical port installation wrap Start bellow lead end connections  3-1/2” above weld collar Port 11 shown

  4. Port 11 heater / insulation / boot sequence Note: make sure that the boot fits over the port insulation. Looks tight here. Tie rap needs to be below boot

  5. Port 7 5.4”

  6. Sec A through Port 11 Sec B through Port 11

  7. Section A cut of Port 11 5.0 max OD of tie rap on port 11 boot. 1.0” thickness 0.5” 5.125 OD 5.5 OD 1.75” 1-3/16” thickness 1-7/16” thickness 6.0 OD .26” gap in Section A PORT 11 The insulation shown is an attempt to max the insulation within the existing boot ignoring port misalignment and thermal growth.

  8. 0.5” port misalignment • 0.625” thermal growth differential 1.125” gap needed Section A cut of Port 11 Initial Port 11 boot/insulation set-up Added constraints: 1/2” thick x 2” long local insulation section off heater tape 1.5” thick x 4” long insulation thickness. This is the maximum amount given the port and boot geometry. .15” gap in Section B (180 from Section A)

  9. Port 11 boot/insulation set-up prior to welding port to VV Insulation is slid down the port along with the cloth seal. .125” thk heater tape 1/2” thick x 2” long local insulation section off heater tape 1.5” thick x 4” long insulation thickness 1.1” gap Gap is off by .025”…looks OK

  10. Insulation added after port is welded to VV (maybe 2” thick) 1/2” thick x 2” long local insulation section off heater tape 1.5” thick x 4” long insulation thickness

  11. Looking down on Port 11

  12. Port 11 0.81” space between clamp and insulation 0.52” space between clamp and insulation Assuming a 1.5” thick insulation that is pushed down

  13. This must be a view looking up toward Port 11?

  14. Initial Port 11 boot/insulation slid in place Initial Port 11 boot/insulation initial set-up Latest thinking using a constant thickness local insulation insert. 0.75” constant thickness insulation is shown.
