Ak-Chin Indian Community Pesticide Control Program • In EPA FY2001, Ak-Chin Indian Community applied and received US EPA Region 9 cooperative funds for development of a Pesticide Control Program • Developed a Pesticide Use Assessment • Through EPA FY2002 - EPA FY2004, Ak-Chin Indian Community continued to receive cooperative funding from US EPA Region 9

  6. Ak-Chin Indian CommunityWest Nile Virus Monitoring • CO2 trapper is placed at site from dusk to dawn • Sites included: • Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino-Resort • CAP Termination Pond • Elderly Center • Parks & Recreation • Community Center

Ak-Chin Indian CommunityWest Nile Virus Monitoring • EPA FY2003 – One mosquito sample tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV) from CAP Termination Pond site • Pesticide Control Program (PCP) notified Community of lab analysis result • EPA FY2004 – The Ak-Chin Health Clinic received one report of a human WNV case • ACIC PCP informed Community of discovery
