  4. Mainframe Computers • Mainframe computers (usually referred to as “Big Iron”) are powerful computers used mostly by corporate and organizations of critical applications, data processing, etc. • Mainframe computers run for years without interruptions.

  5. Microcomputers • A microcomputer is a computer with a microprocessor as its central processing unit. • They are physically small compared to mainframe and microcomputers.

  6. Minicomputer • A minicomputer is a class of multi-user computers that lies in middle range of computer spectrum, in between the largest multi-user systems (mainframe computers) and the smallest single user systems (microcomputers/ personal computer)
