What is a verb? p. ______ Verb: a word that shows action or a state of being. Action Verb: shows an action that can be seen, felt, heard, or thought. Ex. The wagon flipped over. Linking Verb: tells about/describes the subject Ex. Squirmy is tired. Helping Verb: helps the main verb Molly mustescape.
Action Verbs An action verb shows an action that can be seen, felt, heard, or thought. Examples: 1. The waiter cut the cake into four slices. (action seen) 2. I admire your determination. (action felt) 3. I hope they remember to pick me up on time. (action thought)
Linking Verbs -shows NO action, -it connects or links the subject to a word that follows it Ex: Taylor is witty. Mr. Beiber is a punk. You are handsome.
