About HSBH Established in 2006 at DeGroote to introduce high school students to the exciting world of Business. Mission • To enrich the educational experience of senior high school students in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area (GTHA) • To give undergraduate students the chance to develop leadership
Our Means • Offer a challenging, competitive and rewarding experience for high school students • Give opportunities to explore and experience post-secondary education • Learning from each other and interacting with professors, students and industry professionals at the DeGroote School of Business. Rewards • Experiential learning in the real world • Prize money for the top three teams and incentives for the school of the winning team

About the AGH • Overview of the Art Gallery of Hamilton • Current events, activities and audiences • Youth programs
About the AGH • In operation since June 30, 1914– celebrating Centennial in 2014 • Mission: “a public resource dedicated to engaging, stimulating and enriching the community through art” • Permanent collection features over 10,000 works • 150,000 visitors each year • Free admission for students of McMaster, Mohawk and Redeemer • Hamilton’s Urban Design and Architecture Awards 2005 Winner: Excellence in Architectural Design
The 2014 HSBH Case Challenge • Conduct research on the AGH, and gather opinions of fellow students • Look into what the AGH has to offer and then market its features to youth Develop a marketing strategy to increase interest and attendance among youth for the AGH
PHASE ONE: THE ELEVATOR PITCH • Clear, concise explanation of your ideas—should be possible to deliver in the time span of an elevator ride • Present a 2-page proposal outlining the key elements of team’s creative business solutions, plan and analysis
ELEVATOR PITCH Criteria Evaluated out of 40 marks in total • Introduction [5 marks] • Background info on AGH • State problem found in case brief • Introduce team’s innovative solution • Business Plan [15 marks] • Describe your plan and why AGH would incorporate it • State target market and how plan will connect to this demographic • Describe how AGH can implement and how it would impact the AGH • Include a brief analysis and future outlook of plan
ELEVATOR PITCH Criteria • Current Research [10 marks] • Use reputable sources to describe recent trends/ events (no older than 2009) that may relate to case • Include brief analysis • Conclusion [5 marks] • Summarize business plan and findings (no new content) • References [5 marks] • Use Business Citation Guide to cite sources
How to submit your entries • Only one team member needs to submit an entry per team • E-mail document to hsbh@mcmaster.ca with your team name in the subject line • An e-mail will be sent to the team’s main contact to confirm receipt of entry Elevator Pitch deadline: Friday, Feb. 28 at 11:59pm
