  2. The Story Of Oolong Tea The origin of Oolong Tea are often traced back to the Fujian province of China. The mountainous terrain and unique climate during this area, creates perfect conditions for oolong tea production. The history of oolong is shrouded in mystery. While there are many myths and legends that detail the origin of Oolong Tea, nobody really knows exactly how and when the primary oolong was produced. It is said that the name ‘Oolong’, stems from the Chinese term ‘Wu Long’ which suggests ‘Black Dragon’. Some still ask the category as ‘Wu Long’ or ‘Black Dragon Tea’. www.ustwotea.com

  3. The Story Of Black Tea Until the mid 17th century (Late Ming, Early Qing Dynasty), the sole teas consumed in China were green (unoxidized) and oolong (semi-oxidized) teas. The tale goes that while a passing army entered the Fujian province, they clear out to take shelter at a close by tea factory. This held up production at the tea factory, where leaves were left out in the sun, causing them to oxidize for a longer period of time and resulting in darker leaves. In an effort to accelerate the drying time, they decided to smoke the leaves over pinewood, thus creating Lapsang Souchong, which became one of the very first Black Tea. www.ustwotea.com

  7. Oolong Tea Vs Black Tea Oolong Tea Oolong tea, which is made from leaves that are partly fizz previous to being fired, falls midway in the middle of green and black teas. Oolong is a greenish-brown tea of which flavor, color and aroma are affluent than that of green tea, but more fine than that of black. Oolongs are the wide, wide classification of tea in the middle of green and black, and through skilled, labor-intensive processing, a tea-maker can coax anything from buttery florals to deep chocolate to roasted nuts to tropical fruit out of one batch of leaves. www.ustwotea.com

  8. Oolong Tea Vs Black Tea Black Tea In tea production, the leaves are first spread on withering racks and air-blown, which removes about one-third of their moisture and renders them soft and pliable. Next, they're rolled to interrupt their cell walls, releasing the juices essential to fermentation. Once more, they're opened up and kept under high humidity to market fermentation, which turns the leaves a dark coppery color and develops black tea's authoritative flavor. Finally, the leaves are "fired," producing a brownish tea whose immersion in predicament gives a reddish-brown brew with a stronger flavor than green or oolong teas. www.ustwotea.com
