Hurricane- How to prepare

Here at Triumph we hope another storm does not affect South Florida again. Unfortunately, NOAA predicts the Atlantic area could see a higher than normal number of storms and hurricanes for the 2017 season. The likelihood that Miami-Dade, Broward, or Palm Beach county will see a storm this season is therefore very high. Preparation for a storm beforehand can be a lifesaving step for you and your family and can help protect your property.
https://triumphfl.com/hurricane-how-to-prepare/
If you try to purchase shutters right before a hurricane you may not be able to find any available, and you will probably not have time to install them. Your roof and windows should be built to withstand strong winds by being reinforced and impact resistant. All damaged branches and trees should be removed at the beginning of hurricane season.Gutters and water drainage pipes should be cleared of debrisAll outside items like chairs and small plants should be brought in doors. Family Plan It is important that you also have a plan for your family in case there is a hurricane evacuation order for your area or the hurricane strength is very high. A hurricane 3 or higher can have catastrophic flooding and winds. When you are informed the hurricane maybe a category 3 or higher you should begin considering evacuation even if it is not ordered yet. If your area is ordered to evacuate do so immediately do not wait. Once the hurricane is 6 hours out storm force winds may start and it will be too late to leave the area . Have a copy of your home insurance policy and contact numbersWatch for evacuation ordersKnow your evacuation routeHave an emergency meeting place in your home such as a closet or bathroom with no windows Have an emergency meeting place in your neighborhood for in case your family is split up during the storm.
