1. Have you ever heard of “Home Court Advantage”? What is “Home Court Advantage”? What do you think of when you hear “Home Court Advantage”? What causes “Home Court Advantage” on a team? How can these same elements apply in the classroom?

3. Safety What is meant by safety in the classroom? What does safety in the classroom look like? What might it sound like?

4. Support What does support look like in the classroom? What does it sound like? Where should support come from? Who should receive support? The circle within the triangle reminds us that everyone is included in the team. Where is the teacher located on the HCA icon? Should the teacher be in the circle or outside the circle? Support comes from teacher to student, student to student, AND student to teacher. What does support for the teacher look like and sound like?

5. Belonging How many of you have ever experienced feeling like you didn’t belong? With each partner having 2 minutes to share, share this experience and the emotions you felt. How can we avoid these kinds of feeling within the classroom? What does belonging in the classroom look like? What does it sound like? When everyone feels like they belong, how does this benefit the class as a whole?

6. When we have home court advantage, we have… -an understanding of expectations and rules to follow a strong team with EVERYONE included -have respect for ourselves and others! We are all unique and special -success because we do our best, even when it seems hard -a safe place to ask questions -a safe place to tell the truth in a positive way
