  1. Implantable Contact Lens (ICL) Implantation In Eyes With Iridociliary Cyst Sung-Ho Choi M.D., Eui-Sang Chung M.D., PhD, Tae-Young Chung M.D., PhD. Department of Ophthalmology, Samsung Medical Center, Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine, Seoul, Korea Authors have no financial interest.

  2. Purpose • To report 3 cases of implantable contact lens (ICL) implantation in eyes with iridociliary cyst.

  3. Case Report • An iridociliary cyst was discovered by chance in 3 eyes of 2 patients during preoperative ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM). • ICL size was determined by measuring the sulcus to sulcus diameter with UBM (UBM 840, Zeiss-Humphrey, Germany). • At 2 months after ICL implantation, UBM was performed again to check the cyst and the position of the ICL.

  4. Case 1 & 2 (F/25 yr(OU)) OD (case 1) OS (case 2) • Preop • UCVA/BCVA: 0.02/1.0 • IOP: 17mmHg • MR: -10.0 Dsph=-0.5Dcyl180 • White to white: 11.4mm • Sulcus to sulcus: 11.4mm • Implanted ICL • Size/Power: 12.omm/-14.0D • Postop 2mo • UCVA: 1.0 • MR: +0.25Dsph • IOP: 18mmHg • ICL Vault: 799um • Preop • UCVA/BCVA: 0.02/1.0 • IOP: 19mmHg • MR: -10.5Dsph=-0.25Dcyl180 • White to white: 11.3mm • Sulcus to sulcus: 11.4mm • Implanted ICL • Size/Power: 12.0mm/-14.5D • Postop 2mo • UCVA: 1.0 • MR: +0.25Dsph • IOP: 20mmHg • ICL Vault: 949um

  5. Case 1. Preop (OD - 10 ½ O/C) Postop (OD - 10 ½ O/C) • Preop UBM. A ciliary cyst (540um in diameter) is discovered by chance. Postop 2 month UBM. The cyst disappeared and the ICL haptic is set over the ciliary body.

  6. Case 2. Preop (OS - 9 O/C) Postop (OS - 9 O/C) • Preop UBM. A relatively large and thin walled cyst (1103um in diameter) is located at the iridociliary junction. Postop 2 month UBM. The cyst disappeared and the ICL haptic is placed over the ciliary body.

  7. Case 3 (F/28 yr(OS)) OS (case 3) • Preop • UCVA/BCVA: 0.01/0.9 • IOP: 15mmHg • MR: -9.50 Dsph=-1.0Dcyl180 • White to white: 11.5mm • Sulcus to sulcus: 11.9mm • Implanted ICL • Size/Power: 12.5mm/-15.5Dsph=+1.0Dcyl (Toric ICL) • Postop 2mo • UCVA: 1.0 • MR: +0.5Dsph • IOP: 13mmHg • ICL Vault: 1088um

  8. Case 3. Preop (OS 10 O/C) Postop (OS 10 O/C) • Preop UBM. A ciliary cyst (455um in diameter) is located at the ciliary body. Postop 2 month UBM. The ICL haptic is on the ciliary body over the cyst.

  9. Conclusion • Two cases of iridociliary cysts disappeared and one remained after ICL implantation. • The presence of iridociliary cyst does not seem to affect the clinical outcomes after ICL implantation. • Although limited in number, our cases demonstrated safe clinical results of ICL implantation in case of iridociliary cysts in terms of visual acuity, refraction, IOP, and vaulting.

  10. Thank you.
