Why use technology for walkthroughs? • Wanted documentation of the number of eWalks completed • By each administrator • By teacher • By classroom • By grade level • By content area • By building • Wanted consistency by those conducting walkthroughs (administrators, teachers) • Wanted to be able quantify and display data

  10. Steps in Our Process • Decided to do walkthroughs • Determined we wanted to use technology to assist • Researched software available • MX-Web (e-Walks) • McCrel (Power Walkthroughs) • RTV 360 3D Walkthroughs • eCOVE • Observe4Success • Software Quality Assurance

  38. Involving Teachers in WalkThroughs Question: Should we involve teachers in conducting walkthroughs? Question: If so, how do we involve teachers in walkthroughs? Another perspective Engaging Teachers in Classroom Walkthroughs, Kachur et al

  39. Considering walkthroughs? If your school or district was contemplating using “Walkthroughs” the following needs to be planned— What is the purpose(s) for your walkthroughs? Who will participate in walkthroughs? The frequency of walkthroughs? What data will be collected? How will the data be collected? What will be done with the data? What role will conferencing play? What PD will be needed? By whom? What connection is there to the CC? How does this fit with the new evaluation model?

  40. QUESTIONS TO PONDER… What role could walkthroughs and/or eWalks play… …in the curriculum? …in the Common Core? …in your school or district? …in the evaluation process?
