  2. The South Africa is one of the richest countries in the world occupies the southern part of Africa. South Africa is washed by two oceans: Indian in the east and Atlantic in the west.

  3. There are about 20 climate zones in South Africa . In the north is Savannah, on the east coast – subtropics, in the south around Cape Town -is almost the Mediterranean climate. In general, South Africa is characterized by a dry sunny climate.

  4. The capitalsof South Africa are Pretoria, Bloemfontein and Cape Town.

  5. Johannesburg is the largest city (2 million people)

  6. Cape of Good Hope is washed by two oceans.

  7. Official languages are 11 languages ​​spoken by the multi-ethnic population of South Africa. However, the vast majority of South Africans understand English.

  8. In 1948 the South African Government introduced ‘apartheid’ and separated the population into 4 races: white, black, asian and coloured.

  9. Many black and coloured people protested against apartheid.

  10. Nelson Mandela (African human rights leader) spent his life engaged in resistance against the ruling government's policy of apartheid, the legal separation of races.

  11. In 1993 Mandela received the Nobel Peace Prize. One year later, at the age of 75, he was elected president of South Africa.

  12. South African parks and nature reserves, wild nature, purest ocean beaches and the coast; surfing, hunting, ancient cultural traditions attract millions of tourists from all over the world.
