Student profiles of Bharati College, New Delhi India
Shivani Sharma A post graduate student of English Literature in University of Delhi, my world inevitably revolves around books and some baked, half-baked musings on past, present and future. An avid painter and photographer, I am fascinated by the quasi-silent yet emphatic multifarious strokes a piece of art generates. A trip to Kathmandu, Nepal about an year ago etched a deep impression on my mind. I came across a Buddhist place of worship that had a question mark symbol instead of a nose (see the picture on the right). Later learnt, this is actually the Nepali character for the number 1, symbolizing unity and the one way to reach enlightenment-through Lord Buddha's teachings. These discoveries gently pushed me to take interest in Buddhist Studies and architecture in general.
“There's a whisper on the night-wind, there's a star agleam to guide us,And the wild is calling, calling . . . let us go.” I have always been enthralled by the enigmatic spontaneity and joie de vivre that accompanies the life of gypsies. The Moon watching over you. The stars shining over you. From the faint music of the night trying to lull you to sleep to the feeling of sticking the head out of the caravan window and tasting the crispy air- Ah, life is a highway! Over the summer, I got to work with socially disadvantagedchildren; the experience left me with a renewed perspective on life and its intricacies. After a long day at the university/work, I like to spend time with my journal and relax by listening to old Hindi film songs or classical music. • This is my third year in CCBC. Coming from a non-Commerce background, I was, initially, apprehensive whether I will be able to do well as the project involves 'business transactions.‘ All fears vanished in no time. Here lies the beauty of this project! I understood how virtual business communication is carried out. In the process, I learnt Commerce terms that I would have not known otherwise and improved my knowledge and skills of computers and related aspects. Looking forward to yet another enterprising year…
