Green Builder Committee Objectives • Increase the number of LEED Accredited Professionals (APs) throughout city staff • Advance the general acceptance towards sustainable building practices throughout the Plano commercial development community • Develop and implement Plano’s Green Builder Program for new and redevelopment commercial and residential projects
City Facility LEED Certification Policy • Use of passive solar energy • Natural lighting(day lighting)and adjustable lighting systems • Highly reflective roof and building exterior • Indoor Air Quality • HVAC energy performance and efficiency • Use of on-site renewable energy • Waste minimization • Water reclamation and conservation
Resource Conservation Committee Objectives • Reduce energy consumption in city buildings • Reduce waste • Reduce fuel consumption and air emissions • Conserve water and improve stormwater quality
Peak Hour Signal Retiming Project • The afternoon peak hour signal retiming in the area east of US-75 was completed. The project reduced annual: • Vehicle delay by 450,000 hours • Number of stops by 2.6M • Fuel Consumption by 367,000 gallons • CO Emissions by 28.31 tons • NOX Emissions by 5.51 tons • VOC emissions by 6.56 tons

Mobile Source Pollution Reduction Policy • PURPOSE: To establish a uniform idle-reduction, fuel conservation and mobile source pollution reduction program. • Limits idling to no more than 3 minutes • Establishes fueling limits on ozone alert days • Encourages carpooling and use of mass transit
