  2. Objectives At the conclusion of this tutorial you should be able to do the following: • Locate basic country information from the World Factbook and the Department of State’s Background Notes. • Write correct citation for the information found.

  3. What’s so special? The sources we’ll cover in this tutorial are but two of the many sources that provide basic country information. • The World Factbook is updated annually and occasionally more frequently when changes are warranted. The Background Note series is updated periodically though not necessarily on annual basis for all countries. • Each source collects the same information on every country so comparisons can be easily made between countries. • Both sources are available free of charge from any computer with Internet Access.
